PROTECTING AND ENHANCING OUR TAONGA
- Adoption of 10 year plan to re-populate the reserve with native plants that are unique to the area
- Introduction of fully detailed interpretation panels which inform about the native plants, their uses, and importance to the Maori
- Implementation of education programmes for Ngati Rangiteaorere tribe through Kohanga
- Reo (total immersion Maori language - pre-school ) and Kura Kaupapa (total immersion
- Maori language - primary school upwards)
- Continuing upgrading of access ways for safety in accordance with “Visual and Fit” criteria set by tangata whenua (people of the land) – Tikitere Trust
- Utilising materials that accurately reflect who we are, where we have come from and where we intend to take our people into the future
- Recognition that our people are our taonga (treasures) and need to be developed to aspire to the full potential – implementation of robust training programmes in tikanga tiaki(sustainable practises), tourism, business management and spa management.
