The Hells Gate Sulphur Bath

The Sulphur Bath is a misnomer as it has never been used for bathing. It has a pH of 1 which is similar to very strong acid.   
        
This hot pool has been used in the past as a source of very potent insecticide. Rotorua Maori would spray the water from this mud pool over their vegetables and fruit trees and never have to worry about insect attacks! Because it is a natural product and degrades over time you can also eat the fruit and vegetables without having to wash them first.
